About
I started in theatre at a young age and in high school attended Harrison Center for the Performing Arts. I attended college at University of South Alabama and earned a BFA in theater. Every summer, I worked in theaters across America including Chipola College, Heritage Theatre Festival, and Santa Fe Opera. Working as a carpenter for a period after graduation taught me discipline. I started a family, and began working at Bungalow Scenic Studios as a carpenter. Within a few months, I was promoted to an installer, putting together and assembling big shows. After a year, I was offered another promotion to oversee and manage our entire warehouse. I am grateful for opportunity and it gave me a chance to work and learn with all different departments including, CAD, project management, welders, painters, designers, and my old installer buddies.
After my corporate job career I made a decision to pursue theatre again. It had been a decade since I worked in a theatre but wanted to return to the environment I grew up in. At this point I joined the Orlando Shakes regional theatre where we produced six fully realized productions in nine months. My time there exposed me to more automation experience and drafting projects. From there I moved on to academic world in the University of Central Florida. I worked with students from a wide range of experience to build five productions for the Academic season.
Currently, I generate CAD drawings and make building decisions, budgets for the University of Virginia and Virginia Theatre Festival. I manage the scene shop to fabricate and install productions according our seasonal schedule. In my spare time I design/build furniture for clients and volunteer at Henley Middle School drama department for their seasonal productions.
